There was a serious accident on Market Street on Tuesday afternoon at around 3pm. I took the above photo at about 4.15pm when there were traffic jams in both directions. I understand that there was a collision between a cyclist and an adult male pedestrian.
The model boating lake is being drained and cleaned next week. The cleaning of the lake will commence on Wednesday 24th and will hopefully be back up and running by Monday 29th. Hoylake Model Boat Club members will be carrying out the cleaning but if you would like to lend a hand feel free to come along on any of these days.
A reader has asked about the current status of the Pebbles Cafe development on North Parade. For those of you who aren’t aware the old toilet block opposite the bottom of Trinity Road is expected to be redeveloped as a cafe. Is a suggested spring 2011 completion date still on target? Building works have not yet started. If you know anymore please leave a comment below.
Another reader has asked an interesting question: What’s the oldest property in Hoylake? Do you know for certain or can you hazard a good guess? Please leave a comment below.
Pictured left is an in-progress Christmas tree being constructed inside St John’s Church in Meols. The Christmas tree is in aid of the Help For Heroes charity and is actually made of wool. Volunteers from the congregation are knitting the leaves and pupils from Great Meols School have been busy making pom poms and a woolen garland.
A lot of effort is going into this project so well done to all concerned! Do visit St John’s nearer Christmas to see the complete tree.
The tree will be on Display to everyone from 9am to7-30pm Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th November except at service times.
There will also be an Art Exhibition, Floral Displays and Exhibits by Local Talented people.
Admission is free but there will be lots of opportunities for people to make donations to ‘Help for Heroes’. Thanks to friends and Local Businesses we have already raised in excess of £1000 through Sponsorship.
