The free, brown bin, garden waste recycling service offered by Wirral Council is soon to become a paid-for service.
Wirral Council has announced the withdrawal of the free collection service that is to be replaced with a chargeable service that will cost from £30 a year. The Council says that: “if you choose not to subscribe, your garden waste will no longer be collected and you will need to make alternative disposal arrangements”.
The chargeable service starts in June this year and you’ll need to pay your subscription before 27th May to ensure continuous service. If you pay online the charge is £30/yr otherwise it’s £35/yr. Brown bins that are no longer required will be subsequently collected by the council.
You’ll find a list of questions and answers about the changes to this recycling service on this page.
Green and grey bin collections are not affected by this change.
