A loose pony was injured on Birkenhead Road on Wednesday evening.
At around 8pm on Wednesday evening, the white pony was involved in a collision with a car on Birkenhead Road outside the tool hire shop.
The pony was first seen in Guffitts Rake, Meols. Presumably it had escaped from fields in Meols down Park Lane. It was also spotted in Ashford Road. I saw it on Birkenhead Road and it was visibly injured, galloping up Market Street with its reigns trailing. It was then seen on Meols Drive and then in West Kirby.
Merseyside Police were aware of the incident and had sent a response.
The pony was later recovered and returned to its owner and was receiving attention from a vet.
My understanding is that a loose horse is not classed as a Police emergency (a 999 call) unless the horse is injured or presumably causes an injury to someone. Can anyone clarify this?
Does anyone know if the pony will make a full recovery?
