Another old photo from ebay this week, this one featuring several Hoylake cab men outside their hut. Well, apparently that’s what is says on the reverse of the image that’s dated 1910.
It’s hard to definitely say the photo was taken at Hoylake station, but it’s a good bet with the two flights of steps up to the bridge crossing the line. We’re talking steams here, electrification of the line happened in 1938 when a new station was built. Here’s an old photo of the original station and here’s an old photo of our Grade II Listed station.
After a few minutes searching I’ve struggled to find any other photos or any articles about Hoylake cab men. So if you know of any please do leave a comment.
