Wirral Festival of Firsts 2013 starts tomorrow (Saturday 6th July) with events happening not just in Hoylake but in West Kirby and New Brighton too. The complete events programme can be viewed on the official website. Wirral Festival of Firsts was established in Hoylake in 2011 to “deliver an innovative, community based arts festival to encourage participation, the showcasing of local talent as well as the opportunity for the community to access and enjoy some examples of the best art, music and poetry in the country”.
As the weather is going to be good this weekend, you might fancy a trip to New Brighton for Poetry Proms at Perch Rock in the afternoon. If you’ve not been to New Brighton for a few years then you should – you really won’t recognise the place!
Pictured above is the Pagoda Chinese Youth Orchestra from Liverpool, the oldest Chinese Youth Orchestra in Europe (website) and they perform on Saturday at 2pm in St Luke’s Church on Market Street.
Tickets for all events can be obtained from The Help shop on Market Street which is next to the butchers and pretty much opposite The Ship Inn.
