I mentioned last week a Remembrance Service being held today at St John’s Church in Meols. I also mentioned that members of the local congregation have been very busy knitting poppies for a commemorative piece of art to be displayed in church.
As you can see from the photo above it’s very striking with thousands of woollen poppies tied to a green mesh that you can’t now see. Well done to my mum and all the other knitters! And thanks to my sister for the photo.
Thanks to everyone who supported our Remembrance Day Poppy Event we raised £1000 for the
Wirral British Legion Poppy Appeal
My wife and I attended this Remembrance Day service which we found very moving. It was even more memorable for me as I had been a choir boy there in my childhood. I found it very interesting to be back there and enjoyed chatting with Karl, who showed me into the vestry where we used to change into cassock and surplice. He was also kind enough to e-mail me a copy of a photo of the choir that hangs in the vestry. All in all a very memorable day.
