Plans for a new cinema in Hoylake have encountered a major setback right at the start of the project.
Wirral Council state that the project cannot go ahead due to a covenant on the proposed site at Hoylake Lifeboat Museum. You can read a letter discussing the issue here. There’s a follow-up post on the project website too.
It does not appear to be clear if the covenant on the site can be lifted or not. Has Wirral Council presumed it can’t be?
I’ve heard a few comments about whether the project is commercially viable, but surely that’s a decision for the companies involved?
Other comments have raised the issue of car parking for staff and visitors. The proposal doesn’t include car parking as far as I can see – will North Parade offer the parking space?
If the site on the prom is a no-go where else in Hoylake could it go? A pub? Well the Punch Bowl is already being redeveloped and the others aren’t on the market. A bar? Is there one big enough?
What do you think? Have your say in the comments below.
Remember that feeling in the playground when the big, angry, bitter kid changed his mind about selling you the footie card he didn’t need?……………….because his Mother told him he couldn’t give things away……..
But his Mother doesn’t yet know you would make good use of that final card to complete the full set and then put it on display in a school art project for all the kids to see. ……………
You know if she KNEW THIS she would tell that bitter kid to give you the card for the good of ALL in the school………
So now you have to take the courage to go talk to his Mother……..
