Inspired by a photo that I published back in February of Hoylake Station, Mason Edwards has produced this great “railway poster” of the same station.
I don’t know if there were any posters promoting Hoylake back in the 1920s and 1930s (please do send a copy in if you’ve got one) but you can easily imagine the railways focusing on the sea and the golf …the sun, well maybe! Perhaps visitors took the train into Hoylake and stayed at The Royal Hotel?
Mason now lives and works in Milton Keynes but used to live in Meols – you can see more of his work on his website. He kindly sent me a print in the post the other day (perk of the job!) but if you’d like to purchase a copy for yourself or as a Christmas gift then its available as A4 and A3 prints as well as a small number of postcards from Seagrass Studios at The Quadrant. Just opposite the station.
