Some little items of news.
I’ve posted an item on West Kirby Times about proposals for a new flood defence at South Parade, West Kirby. Presumably flood-risk at Hoylake isn’t as big a problem then? The photo above is of South Parade during the 2013/14 storm surges.
Yet another planning application for the demolition of the toilet block on the promenade opposite Trinity Road has been submitted. Here’s some additional information about it. An opportunity missed perhaps?
There’s no decision yet from Wirral Council re the demolition of a house in Beach Road. Meanwhile the house went back on the market last week.
There’s been some discussion about the proposed redevelopment of the church in Alderley Road. Don’t forget that the developer has not yet submitted any proposal to Wirral Council.
The Hoylake HELP shop has relocated to the library just along Market Street. Don’t forget the library now has restricted opening times.
At time of writing there’s a dead seal (I think it is) on the beach by Sandhey slipway. I did report it to the UK Strandings organisation but nobody has yet called me back. Repair work is in progress at Sandhey slipway by the way.
Hoylake local Jon Stitcher is a contestant on the current series of Only Connect and will be appearing on BBC 2 for the next time on Monday 26th October as part of the Athenians team.
I’ve had a few people ask about the Wirral Golf Resort. I’ll do something on it when the plans are a bit more concrete. I understand that Wirral Council are hoping to start discussions with Hoylake and West Kirby residents soon.
Apologies if you’ve sent an email and I’ve not replied/actioned – I’m a bit time-poor at the moment with one thing and another.
