Whatever happens at the site of the former promenade toilet block, it doesn’t happen quickly!
Following the demolition of the former toilets on North Parade on 18th April, some work has taken place to start to concrete over the foundations. Presumably, some railings will be installed to stop people falling off onto the beach. I’ve no idea if a couple of benches will be installed for people to sit and take in the view and the sun-sets, but that would be something.
I took the above photo a week ago and as seems usual with this site, not much has happened since then.
Surely this is perfect for a new building? We could still have a cafe or little restaurant here with toilets that walkers could use. It would be a lovely place to watch the sunset and even a hide to watch birds.
This is a chance for the local councillors and their friends at Melrose Hall to help bring something really exciting on the prom for residents.
Why should we do it??
Why do you not organise something as everything we do is against your ideas for Hoylake.
“Why should we do it??”
Isn’t that what councillors are there for? Surely the future of the toilet block is a local issue which they can influence?
The councillors are part of the Melrose Hall Group. Peas in the same pod.
The Melrose Hall Group have a community centre so can hold public meetings. They can bring residents together.
The Melrose Hall Group sit on local committees and speak on behalf of residents. They have put themselves in positions of power.
Like many people in Hoylake I have none of those things. I spend my time looking after kids and have a full time job. I don’t have time to attend lots of committee meetings. I don’t have a community centre and can’t bring residents together.
But I still have ideas and opinions. It is very sad that those that have influence in Hoylake, are so against new ideas.
Good luck to the new owner of the lifeboat station!
Paul, Did anyone else notice the back ground scenery in this weeks excellent TV Play “REG” ?
It was supposed to be in Wales but when the family were going to their son’s funeral the view through the windows of the funeral car was very clearly Hoylake promenade with the now gone toilets block and a very brief shot of the Life Boat station. The program ended with a beautiful shot taken from the north end of West Kirby Lake.
