One of the most prominent buildings in Hoylake celebrates its centenary in 2009 and invites you to join the celebrations.
Currently home to Hoylake Community Centre this substantial building was of course the old Parade School situated on the bottom corner of Hoyle Road and the promenade. Completed in 1909 and with this year being 2009 the building is celebrating its centenary.
The hardworking volunteers at the Centre are organising a number of events and a reunion during late June to mark the centenary. I spent some time last Saturday chatting with Carla Williams (who also finds time to run the Wednesday Special Needs Club and the Hoylake 10k) and as a result I’ll be providing more information about the celebrations here on HoylakeJunction.com over the next couple of weeks. In the next day or so I’ll publish a page detailing the history of the building. Update: Parade School history now published.
If you need more information you can visit the official website, email paradecentenary <at> btinternet <dot> com or get in touch with us and I’ll pass your details on.
