According to notices taped to the Trinity Road side of the building “works” are about to start at The Punch Bowl.
The empty pub was strongly rumoured to be a site for a Tesco’s local store but the Corporate Affairs Director for the company told local campaigners that Tesco hadn’t purchased the building. There were subsequent rumours that the pub was going to be converted into apartments – though there does not as yet appear to be a planning application in for such a scheme.

Wow who would believe it almost a month has passed by and still no one is telling what’s going to happen to the Punch Bowl. How can that be when Hoylake is such a small place?
Someone out there must know what’s being planned so spill the beans and put the whole of Hoylake out of it’s misery!

Anyone noticed man with theodolite measuring The Punch Bowl building for the last 2 days…
Gerry Martin says
I too have noticed theodolite man but as of Saturday 2 November absolutely no sign of any actual building work – BTW the Three Sisters greengrocers opposite the Punch Bowl do have some lovely russet apples!

Has anyone else noticed lots of activity at the punchbowl in the past week?
Builders vans and work going on inside the pub.
What’s it being turned into? Anyone know?
Frank says
Spoke to a builder today, It’s getting turned into a sauna. Make of that what you will.
Barzinho says
Not a sauna but a Plumbers merchants .. taking up the left hand side of the property (as you face the building) .. so, it looks like it is being divided into units …
