Back in October I managed to win a place in the ballot for this year’s Virgin London Marathon. The event is massively over-subscribed and I think there’s about a 1-in-9 or 10 chance of winning a place via the public ballot.
This will be my fourth marathon and my first attempt at London and also a spring marathon. Training during the winter has often been wet and windy but has on the whole gone okay. I’ve got a bit of a sore right hamstring right now, so I now need to take care that I don’t make it any worse.
The marathon takes place on Sunday 24th April, so just under three weeks left to go!
In the spirit of the event, I’d like to try and raise some funds for two good causes.
Sadly, my dad passed away in November. Having successfully beaten cancer a few years earlier, he died from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.
I’ve chosen two charities, Macmillan Cancer Support and Parkinson’s UK and if you’d like to make a donation that’d be very kind – you can do that on this page. Any donations received are to be shared equally between the two charities.
And if you’re also running the marathon… good luck!
Thanks.
