Various sources including BBC Radio Merseyside and the Liverpool Echo have reported that a man died after being hit by a train on the Wirral Line between Meols and Manor Road.
It seems the man used the private level crossing at Bertram Drive North at around 9:30pm Thursday to walk onto the line. Emergency services attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. British Transport Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
This is to my knowledge the second fatality on the Wirral Line between Meols and West Kirby this year. I wonder what additional procedures and measures can be deployed to deter people from walking onto the line and to give better advance warnings to the train drivers?
